Half Price Somalian Cookery Class with Chef-in-Training Obah | BRISTOL

May 17 @ 6:15 pm - 8:45 pm

Come and support our wonderful Migrateful Chefs by attending their final practice cookery classes before they teach the public.

Migrateful are currently training a new cohort of chefs in Bristol. Our new cohort of chefs will be delivering their final practice cookery classes and you are invited.

This training cookery class will be taught by the wonderful Somalian chef Obah at the St Werburghs Community Centre in Bristol.

Each class will begin with an introduction from the chef into the cuisine you will be cooking. The chef will then divide the class into stations and cooking will begin. The chef training team and volunteers will be there to support the class. At the end we will all sit down for a delicious feast. We will also ask the participants for feedback on the class.

Please note that these are training sessions where we will be testing the dishes, how the class runs and the quantities in the recipes. Think of it like a technical rehearsal at the theatre. This means it may run a little over and involve some stop, starting.

Additionally, we will not be able to accommodate dietary requirements but all menus include a vegetarian option.

We can’t wait to see you there!

This small-scale class for 12 participants is not socially distanced.

We will also be selling our beautiful Migrateful aprons! You can purchase them when booking your ticket (pick it up at the event) or before the cookery class starts at the venue.

A message from our Chef Obah:

“Hello, my name is Obah. I am from Somalia but was born and grew up in Kuwait. I never cooked when I was young, as my mum never had time to teach us. I learnt to cook when I got married to my husband 23 years ago, starting with Kabes (Somalian chapatti). It didn’t turn out perfect the first time, but I was determined to do it again and from there I just learnt through practicing. I really enjoy learning about new food from different cultures, and mixing them together!.”

We will send you a reminder email 3 days before the class takes place that will include our In-Person Class COVID-19 Policy. You can also find more information on our website and social media pages.

Payments made through Paypal can take up to 48 hours to have the order confirmed. To guarantee your spot on a cookery class we recommend using a debit or credit card.

Please note, we only process refunds and ticket transfers if we are notified 7 days before the class takes place.
