“My name is Suzanne and I am from Aleppo in Syria. I came to the UK three years ago with my family after fleeing the war. I love to cook and am incredibly passionate about my country’s food, which is one of the oldest in the world. I started cooking casually when I was 12 years old and learnt from my mother, grandmother and aunts, but it was only when I was 18 that I really got into it. I had met a lady in Aleppo who taught me about traditional Syrian cuisine and after going to her classes, my passion and enjoyment for cooking began. I worked as a nurse for a few years and during that time I spent my afternoons cooking at the Mother Teresa orphanage as a volunteer. It was a humbling experience and one I am grateful for as it taught me so much. I am looking forward to sharing my dishes with you and look forward to cooking together.”
This is a family style cookery class where we will collectively prepare 3 or 4 dishes. The chef will divide the class into groups with each one responsible for creating 1 of the dishes. You are also free to move around during the class to learn about the other dishes. The chef will recap each of the dishes throughout the evening and at the end of the class so that everyone can learn about all of the dishes.
