From aromatic curries to crisp fritters and refreshing salads\, Pakistani food is bold\, soulful\, and utterly welcoming. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from chef KTK: \n“I’m KTK from Pakistan. I’ve been here since 2019\, moving to London in 2022. I’m very proud of the generosity and hospitality of Pakistani food and culture. If you visited\, you wouldn’t want to leave. \nI joined Migrateful because I love cooking and feeding people. I know the way to the heart is through sharing good food and it brings me great joy to share my country’s delicious food. \nI’ve overcome very challenging circumstances since I arrived in the UK and grown so much stronger and more independent than I thought possible. Previously\, I wasn’t valued by those for whom I had sacrificed my life by moving here\, but time is teaching me my true value. \nMy first language is Pashto\, I also speak Urdu & Arabic\, and have been learning English since 2022. I was born in Syria but grew up on the coast of Brazil. My parents moved to Brazil when I was two years old. \nI arrived in the UK in 2019 to begin a new life with my children. I lived half my life in Lebanon. I was a physical education teacher in Lebanon and I had been a professional swimmer and surfer in Brazil. \nI have five children and I can speak five languages – Portuguese\, Arabic\, English and Spanish and even a little bit of French. \nI am a passionate cook. I especially love confectionery. I actually have a degree in pastry and confectionery. I like the creativity\, the design\, the art and the skill involved. \nI joined Migrateful hoping I can improve my cooking and presentation skills. These recipes are often shared at family gatherings and celebrations\, showcasing the community spirit and hospitality at the heart of Kurdish life.” \n \n\n\n\n \nABOUT THE CHEF\nA message from chef Ali: \n“Hi\, my name is Ali and I come from Kurdistan\, Iraq. I grew up in a beautiful city called Sulaymaniyah. I was studying Geography at university\, but in 2017 I needed to leave because it was dangerous for me to stay. When I came to Bristol in 2020 I felt relief because the people were so friendly and supportive. \nI learnt to cook from my grandmother and stepmother when I was 15. They said you must look after yourself when you are at University. I discovered I loved cooking. The first things I cooked were rice and aubergine stew to go with lamb. \nWhen I lived in Manchester with 4 friends\, I did all the cooking. In Bristol I worked in a Kurdish restaurant in Old Market. \nI love sharing my recipes from my country with people from different countries. Kurdish cuisine uses a lot of fresh ingredients\, herbs and spices. It is very tasty but not too spicy.
