When the hotel closed\, I first started cooking for homeless people and then for children with additional needs. I became a mother figure for many of the kids and some of the older people. I have been volunteering for Praxis charity for the last year\, a charity that helps support people on their immigration journey. \nIn addition to cooking\, I am passionate about music\, dancing and laughing! SUMMARY:Algerian Cookery Class with Amel | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:In this session Amel will teach delicious\, authentic Algerian dishes followed by a sit-down\, family-style meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nAlgerian cuisine is a beautiful blend of North African\, Mediterranean\, and French influences — rich in spices\, seasonal vegetables\, slow-cooked stews\, and warm breads. From fragrant soups like Chorba Frik to comforting tagines and delicate pastries\, Algerian food is deeply social\, made to be shared\, and full of heritage. With flavours shaped by centuries of cultural exchange\, every dish tells a story of community\, generosity\, and home. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Amel: \nHi my name is Amel\, I am from Sidi Bel Abbes in Western Algeria. Our city is nicknamed ‘Petit Paris’ because there is a strong French influence. I wasn’t allowed to cook growing up because my parents wanted me to focus on my studies. I was a teacher in Algeria but wasn’t able to continue teaching when I moved to the UK in 2015. After I met my wonderful husband\, we quickly had children and I began to spend more time at home. During this time\, I realised my passion for cooking and baking. I cooked so much for my friends and family that they told me to stop as they feared they were getting fat. In the future\, I want to open my own bakery where I can share Algerian food and culture with people in London. Algeria is extremely multicultural and culturally rich\, which is something I am very proud of. SUMMARY:Sri Lankan Cookery Class with Akram|LONDON| Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Akram will teach delicious\, authentic Sri Lankan dishes followed by a sit-down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nSri Lankan cuisine is vibrant\, aromatic\, and shaped by centuries of cultural exchange and coastal trade. Meals often balance bold spices with fresh coconut\, tropical fruits\, lentils\, and seafood. Akram’s dishes highlight the heart of Sri Lankan home cooking\, where hand-prepared curries\, sambals\, and rice-based dishes bring layers of flavour and warmth to the table. Expect richly spiced\, fragrant meals that showcase the island’s culinary heritage\, blending vegetarian\, seafood\, and meat dishes in a communal and celebratory style. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Akram: \n“Hello\, My name is Akram\, I come from Sri Lanka. I am the youngest of five. I have three brothers and one sister. I was born and grew up on the east coast by the sea in a place called Batticaloa. I learnt to cook from my mother when I was young. My favourite dishes were Okra and Fish Curry\, made with fresh coconut. I love playing cricket and on Sundays\, I would go to the beach and fish. Any fish that I caught I would take home and cook fresh that day. Another favourite dish of mine is Beef Biryani which we cooked when we had family celebrations – which could include up to thirty people. When I first came to the UK I lived in Yorkshire\, in Halifax\, and I worked in a community kitchen as a chef. SUMMARY:Omani Cookery Class with Hani | LONDON | Pop up
DESCRIPTION:Chef Hani will teach you some of his favourite Omani dishes followed by a sit down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nOmani cuisine blends Asian influences with aromatic spices and herbs from the Middle East that bring warmth to every dish – like Hani’s Makbous\, a popular and traditional rice dish that is known for its deep\, aromatic taste and considered a symbol of Omani hospitality. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE CHEF \nMy name is Hani\, and I come from the Sultanate of Oman — a beautiful country in the Middle East with a rich history\, deep-rooted traditions\, and a vibrant culinary culture. \nMy mum taught me to cook – she is Egyptian and I really love Egyptian food. I improved my cooking skills through observing and working with chefs in my restaurant business. Now I’m in the UK\, I’m starting a new chapter and bringing with me the flavours of Oman. I hope to open my own restaurant business in London one day. It is my honour to serve as a culinary ambassador for my homeland — to connect people\, cultures\, and communities\, one dish at a time. \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nShorba (Oat and Chicken Soup with Vermicelli) | Meat (Chicken); Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nOmani Samosa | Meat (Beef) and Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nVegetable Saloona (Vegetable Stew with Dried Lime) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nMakbous (Spiced Rice Pilaf) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nTuna Salad | Fish (Tuna); Fish\, Sulphites\nOmani Khabeesa (Rose and Saffron Dessert) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and beef) and fish (tuna). You’ll work together with other participants to prepare each of the dishes\, before sitting down to share a meal together. \nA message from our Chef Jiwan: \n“I am Jiwan\, which means life. I have lived most of my life in Punjab\, India. It is a farmland state in the north of India and the name comes from five rivers which flowed through the region at one time. \nMy journey is a bit unusual as it started from need\, rather than passion. I grew up in a big family and I learned by watching and trying. When my family was away\, I made my first dish\, similar to tacos\, which was well liked by my family after their return. \nI believe cooking is a very important skill\, not a talent. Everyone can develop it\, given some time and effort! Finding a reason helps a lot and mine is making others happy and smile with my food. There are so many dishes from across India that make me happy – that is why my class focuses on a wider area of India than Punjab. \nThe time I have spent with Migrateful has been wonderful and fun. I have learnt so much about food and the world during my training! I hope this class teaches you something new which you can take home and spread that happiness. ” \n \nWe’re excited to have you in the class! Please take note of a few final reminders: \n\nUnlike normal classes\, training classes cannot be booked using gift vouchers. We are also unable to accommodate any ticket transfers from non-training classes.\nPlease see our refund/cancellation policy: Migrateful Ticket Refund Policy | Migrateful\n\n\nPlease see our allergens policy here: Food and Allergens Policy\nWe recommend using a debit or credit card to pay (paypal takes 48 hours to be confirmed).

SUMMARY:Ecuadorian Cookery Class with Judith |Veg Friendly | LONDON|Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Judith will teach you some of her favourite Ecuadorian dishes followed by a sit down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nEcuadorian cuisine comes from South America and reflects the country’s diverse geography\, from the Pacific coast to the Andes mountains and the Amazon rainforest. It combines fresh seafood\, tropical fruits\, vegetables\, grains\, and spices to create vibrant\, flavourful dishes. Meals are hands-on\, social\, and made to be shared\, with signature dishes like Ceviche\, Tigrillo\, and Empanadas highlighting the warmth\, creativity\, and communal spirit of Ecuadorian food culture. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Judith: \n“My name is Judith\, and I am from Ecuador\, a beautiful country in South America. I grew up in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas\, an area located between the coast and the mountains\, so we had the best produce. I grew up in a big family where food and music were always part of our joy – we loved getting together\, sharing meals\, and dancing. In Ecuador\, you can find four seasons in one day by travelling from one part of the country to another\, and that means that you can experience many different types of food in the country. When I came to England\, I started to do some voluntary work in a ‘healthy living’ community group\, and I used to run a session on healthy eating – this is reflected in my menu today. Teaching others about Ecuadorian food helps me feel close to my country and reminds me that even far from home\, we can still celebrate who we are and connect with others through culture and food. Each dish I create carries the soul of my homeland that is inspired by the unique beauty of the Amazon\, where the jungle speaks and nature is sacred. My hands work with love\, honouring my roots and sharing a little piece of living nature with the world.” \n \n\n\n\n \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nTwo Ceviche | Fish (Prawns) and Vegan; Celery\, Crustaceans\, Mustard\nTigrillo (Plantain Hash) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Milk\, Peanuts\nEstofado de Carne y Chocolate (Beef Stew with Chocolate) | Meat (Beef); Celery\nEstofado de Vegetales (Golden Vegetable Stew) | Vegan; Celery\nEmpanadas de Viento (Cheese-Filled Pastries) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nColada Morada (Warm Fruit Punch) | Vegan; None\n\nThis menu contains meat (beef) and fish (prawns) but is vegetarian-friendly (5/6 dishes are meat-free). SUMMARY:Algerian Cookery Class with Amel | LONDON | Pop up
DESCRIPTION:In this session Amel will teach delicious\, authentic Algerian dishes followed by a sit-down\, family-style meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nAlgerian cuisine is a beautiful blend of North African\, Mediterranean\, and French influences — rich in spices\, seasonal vegetables\, slow-cooked stews\, and warm breads. I am from Algiers the capital of Algeria\, in the North of the country on the Mediterranean Sea\, sandwiched between Tunisia and Morocco. \nAt home in Algeria\, I was the spoilt youngest child\, so the only cooking I did was ‘play cooking’ with my beloved Auntie\, who gave me miniature cooking equipment and encouraged me to copy her. At University\, I became more interested in food and started asking for recipes from my relatives. I also learnt to prepare sweets for Eid. I love to cook Algerian food that I’ve enjoyed eating and have an inbuilt instinct to replicate the flavours and smells of my childhood. \nIn Algeria\, I graduated from University in Computing management and Accounting. I came to the UK 15 years ago to join my husband who is my best friend’s cousin. We met when he was visiting my friend and fell in love! \nMigrateful has encouraged me to have more confidence to express myself and share my passion for Algerian food. I feel happy when cooking for people – feeding them delicious food is my love language and I get great pleasure when people enjoy eating what I’ve prepared. I look forward to cooking with you!” \n \nWe’re excited to have you in the class! I learned to cook from my Mum. She used to call my sisters and me to assist her with cooking. I was her main helper\, especially when it came to pulling noodles. \nWhen I was in high school and had our summer holiday\, my mum trusted me enough to cook for the family and I insisted she write me the recipes with every little detail. I got paid for it! My mum taught me to cook several cuisines from around the world but my favourites were Saudi & Uyghur. Even though I have explored hundreds of dishes living in London\, Laghman is the most delicious dish (In my personal opinion!)” \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nJawawa (Uyghur Dumplings filled with Lamb or Chard) | Meat (Lamb) and Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sulphites\nCrunchy Chilli & Garlic Oil | Vegan; None\nLaghman (Hand-stretched Noodles with Braised Vegetables) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Eggs\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nFoul Qulabah (Fava Bean Dip) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nLuqaimat Alqadi (Saudi Doughnuts with Sesame and Date Syrup) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\, Soya\n\nThis menu is mostly vegetarian but contains one dish with meat (lamb)\, with vegetarian filling options. I have always been a daydreamer and I really value the freedom to pursue my dreams here in the UK”. \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nTagine Zitoun (Olive Tagine with Chicken and Meatballs) | Meat (Chicken and Lamb); Egg\, Gluten (Wheat)\nChorba Frik (Vegetable Soup with Freekah and Carraway) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\nBourek (Tuna Pastry Parcels with Cheese) | Fish (Tuna); Eggs\, Fish\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nRekhsas (Algerian Semolina and Nigella Seed Flatbread) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nSamsa b-louz (Fried Almond\, Sesame and Honey Pastries) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and lamb) and fish (tuna).
