Food has to look good and I spend time designing its presentation. \nI realised that I had a talent for cooking when I was a teenager when friends invited me to their homes – not as a guest\, but to cook for them! \nI am very proud of Afghan food. We don’t have a lot of ingredients but the care we take in preparing food makes it one of the tastiest cuisines in the world. SUMMARY:(SOLD OUT) Palestinian Cookery Class with Dr. Amna|LONDON|Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Amna will teach delicious\, authentic Palestinian dishes followed by a sit-down meal. Warm & easy\, like being with family!\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nPalestinian cuisine has a rich culinary history shaped by agriculture\, trade\, and centuries of cultural exchange. From Gaza’s fresh seafood to the fertile hills of the West Bank producing olive oil\, herbs\, and vegetables\, Palestinian food is vibrant\, seasonal\, and full of flavour. Dishes like Sayadieh (seafood rice)\, stuffed vine leaves\, and crispy flatbreads are made to be shared\, highlighting the social\, hands-on nature of meals. Every dish reflects the warmth\, generosity\, and heritage of Palestinian culture. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from chef Amna: \n“My name is Amna from Gaza\, Palestine and I came to the UK in the winter of 2022. In Gaza\, I was a university lecturer in psychology for 20 years and a director of a charity supporting mothers and children. I have 5 children: 2 daughters who still live in Gaza\, a son and daughter in Canada and a son in London. \nAs a young woman\, I lived in Libya. I married there\, brought up my children and achieved my degree and my Masters. Libya’s sky seemed open to my dreams and I was very happy there. \nWhen I first arrived in the UK\, I had nothing here and felt lonely and ashamed. I am thankful to have become part of the Migrateful family. Migrateful has helped me feel more positive and I am happy to share my food and my culture. \nWhen I cook I always think of my mother. I don’t use recipes but cook by a sense I inherited from her. My mother and father always talked about their life before Gaza – I have never been to their home in Ashdod but I feel I know it. My father caught fish\, and they always had fresh vegetables from the countryside. I am passionate about making healthy and nutritious food. It is so important for our lives and our physical and mental health. The process of cooking lifts me\, especially when I do it with others – and people are always appreciative when I offer them my food!” \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nSayadieh (Palestinian Seafood Rice) | Fish (Cod and Prawns); Crustaceans\, Fish\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sulphites\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\nWaraq Enab (Stuffed Vine Leaves) | Vegan; Celery\nFattet Makdous (Fried Aubergine with Tahini Yogurt & Crispy Flatbread) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\, Sesame\, Sulphites\nSalata Falastinia (Palestinian Salad) | Vegan; Sesame\nShurbet Addas (Lentil Soup) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nFatayer Sabaanja Wa Jubneh (Flatbreads Stuffed with Spinach and Cheese) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\n\nThis menu contains fish (cod and prawns) but is vegetarian-friendly (5/6 dishes are meat-free). I love cooking delicious\, nutritional food\, using lots of garlic and spices. I was born into a family of chefs. When I was nine\, my mum went to work and didn’t have time to cook\, so I cooked for her. From a young age\, I would change recipes. I still do! My children ask me what a dish is called\, but I have often just created it\, so it does not have a name! Food is very important in my country. We consider food to be part of the joy of life;it is not just for survival. A meal should not only be the taste\, it should be how it looks\, how it smells and how it feels. I arrived in the UK in January 2024 with my husband and two daughters. At first\, I was worried about everything\, but I have found that British people are very kind. SUMMARY:Eritrean Cookery Class with Wedad | Veg Friendly | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Wedad will teach you some of her favourite Eritrean dishes followed by a sit down meal. Warm & easy\, like being with family!\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nEritrean cuisine comes from East Africa\, along the Red Sea and the highlands of the Horn of Africa. Eritrea’s food reflects a blend of indigenous traditions\, Ottoman\, Italian\, and Middle Eastern influences due to historical interactions. It combines bold spices\, legumes\, vegetables\, grains\, and fresh herbs to create vibrant\, flavourful dishes. Meals are hands-on\, social\, and meant to be shared\, with signature dishes like Shiro\, Zegny\, and Salata Bazinjan served communally on one plate\, highlighting the warmth\, creativity\, and togetherness of Eritrean food culture. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF  \nA message from our Chef Wedad: \n“Hi\, my name is Wedad and I come from a town called Keran in south-west Eritrea. Eritrea is a beautiful country in East Africa and is surrounded by mountains and the Red Sea. I grew up with my grandmother\, who loved to cook and taught me all her recipes. My friends and I liked to cook our dishes for each other and so I also learnt how to cook other cuisines. My favourite dish is Salata Banzinjan\, an aubergine salad\, which I make in lots of different ways. Eritrean food is typically spicy and is served on one plate to be shared with the whole family. One of the things that we eat often is a fermented bread called injera\, which we have at lunchtime. Today\, we will be serving injera with Shiro and Salata Banzinjan. I came to the UK in 2012 and the biggest barrier I faced was the language. Now I study English at the Red Cross and one day we were writing about our favourite food. A few weeks later\, I brought in the dish that I wrote about – kebab – and my teacher and colleagues liked it so much\, she suggested I apply to join Migrateful! I am now a part of the Migrateful community and I hope you enjoy my Eritrean dishes in this class”. \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nSalata Bazinjan (Aubergine Salad) | Vegan; Gluten (Wheat)\, Peanuts\, Sesame\nZegny (Spicy Chicken Stew) | Meat (Chicken); Celery\, Eggs\, Milk\nShiro | Vegetarian; Milk\nSambusa | Meat (Lamb) and Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nFul Medames | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Peanuts\, Sesame\nSalata Hamra (Rainbow Salad) | Vegan; None\nPeanut and Chilli Sauce | Vegan; Peanuts\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and lamb) but is vegetarian-friendly (6/7 dishes are meat-free or have meat-free filling options). Cooking is hands-on\, social\, and meant to be shared\, with signature dishes like Jollof Rice\, Spinach Stew\, and Rice Arkara highlighting the warmth\, community\, and culinary creativity of Sierra Leonean food culture. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Isatu: \n“I am Isatu from Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is a small country in West Africa bordered by Guinea\, Liberia and the Atlantic Ocean. I am a Fulani\, and my tribal identity is as important as my national identity. Sierra Leone is a culturally diverse country\, rich in a number of minerals including diamonds and gold. \nCooking has always been my passion. As a very young child\, I was already pretending to be a chef and made my siblings play along with this game. I started cooking for real when I was 12 years old at my mother’s side. She started by giving me simple tasks to do and gradually taught me how to prepare dishes properly. I am grateful that she shared her secret tips with me. \nI believe it is important to continuously develop oneself and in the importance of community. Putting these principles into practice\, I became a volunteer chef with the Red Cross and with Connect All Community\, cooking for over 60 people every week. \nI bring humour and joy to everything I do\, including my cookery classes. SUMMARY:Ecuadorian Cookery Class with Judith | Veg Friendly | LONDON| Pop up
DESCRIPTION:Chef Judith will teach you some of her favourite Ecuadorian dishes followed by a sit down meal. Warm & easy\, like being with family!\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nEcuadorian cuisine comes from South America and reflects the country’s diverse geography\, from the Pacific coast to the Andes mountains and the Amazon rainforest. It combines fresh seafood\, tropical fruits\, vegetables\, grains\, and spices to create vibrant\, flavourful dishes. Meals are hands-on\, social\, and made to be shared\, with signature dishes like Ceviche\, Tigrillo\, and Empanadas highlighting the warmth\, creativity\, and communal spirit of Ecuadorian food culture. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Judith: \n“My name is Judith\, and I am from Ecuador\, a beautiful country in South America. I grew up in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas\, an area located between the coast and the mountains\, so we had the best produce. I grew up in a big family where food and music were always part of our joy – we loved getting together\, sharing meals\, and dancing. In Ecuador\, you can find four seasons in one day by travelling from one part of the country to another\, and that means that you can experience many different types of food in the country. When I came to England\, I started to do some voluntary work in a ‘healthy living’ community group\, and I used to run a session on healthy eating – this is reflected in my menu today. Teaching others about Ecuadorian food helps me feel close to my country and reminds me that even far from home\, we can still celebrate who we are and connect with others through culture and food. Each dish I create carries the soul of my homeland that is inspired by the unique beauty of the Amazon\, where the jungle speaks and nature is sacred. My hands work with love\, honouring my roots and sharing a little piece of living nature with the world.” \n \n\n\n\n \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nTwo Ceviche | Fish (Prawns) and Vegan; Celery\, Crustaceans\, Mustard\nTigrillo (Plantain Hash) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Milk\, Peanuts\nEstofado de Carne y Chocolate (Beef Stew with Chocolate) | Meat (Beef); Celery\nEstofado de Vegetales (Golden Vegetable Stew) | Vegan; Celery\nEmpanadas de Viento (Cheese-Filled Pastries) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nColada Morada (Warm Fruit Punch) | Vegan; None\n\nThis menu contains meat (beef) and fish (prawns) but is vegetarian-friendly (5/6 dishes are meat-free). SUMMARY:Omani Cookery Class with Hani | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Hani will teach you some of his favourite Omani dishes followed by a sit down meal. Warm & easy\, like being with family!\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nOmani cuisine is deeply shaped by the country’s diverse geography\, from the fertile coastal plains along the Arabian Sea to the rugged mountains and vast desert interiors. This variety influences the ingredients used\, from fresh seafood along the coast to dates\, grains\, and spices in inland areas. Traditional Omani food emphasizes aromatic flavors\, often balancing spices like cardamom\, saffron\, and turmeric with simple\, locally sourced ingredients.  \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Hani: \n“My name is Hani\, and I come from the Sultanate of Oman — a beautiful Gulf country with a rich history\, deep-rooted traditions\, and a vibrant culinary culture. My mum taught me to cook – she is Egyptian and I really love Egyptian food. My dad was from Oman\, and I think this has helped me create my own type of cuisine – a mix of Egyptian and Omani food. My dad also loved to cook\, so I had two very good teachers. I improved my cooking skills through observing and working with chefs in my restaurant business. Now I’m in the UK\, I’m starting a new chapter and bringing with me the flavours of Oman. I hope to open my own restaurant business in London one day. Omani cuisine blends Asian influences with aromatic spices and herbs that bring warmth and depth to every dish\, like one of our dishes today\, ‘Makboos’. I hope to share not only delicious food\, but also the soul of Omani hospitality. It is my honour to serve as a culinary ambassador for my homeland — to connect people\, cultures\, and communities\, one dish at a time.” \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nShorba (Oat and Chicken Soup with Vermicelli) | Meat (Chicken); Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nOmani Samosa | Meat (Beef) and Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nVegetable Saloona (Vegetable Stew with Dried Lime) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nMakbous (Spiced Rice Pilaf) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nTuna Salad | Fish (Tuna); Fish\, Sulphites\nOmani Khabeesa (Rose and Saffron Dessert) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and beef) and fish (tuna). In the future\, I want to open my own bakery where I can share Algerian food and culture with people in London.
