SUMMARY:Syrian Cookery Class with Manal | Veg Friendly | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:In this session Manal will teach delicious\, authentic Syrian dishes followed by a sit-down\, family-style meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nSyrian food is made for sharing. Meals often begin with mezze\, a spread of small plates featuring pickled vegetables\, salads\, breads\, dips\, and pastries – many of which are meat-free. While traditionally served before a main course\, mezze can just as easily stand on its own as a meal. When embarking on an exploration of Syrian cuisine\, expect an eating experience rooted in hospitality\, connection\, fresh flavours and a diverse range of dishes.  \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \n“My name is Manal\, I am from Damascus\, the capital of Syria. I studied chemistry in University\, as well as other courses like body language\, first aid and computing. After raising three children\, I decided to open my own shop\, selling my designs of handmade hats\, bags and accessories.  \nI moved to the UK in 2024\, and started a new chapter in my life with gratitude and excitement. I am very grateful to the UK because here\, I can sleep feeling safe and warm with my children and my kind husband.  \nCooking has been a part of my life since childhood. I grew up in a big family where food was not just about eating\, it was about love\, family gatherings and warm memories together. My lovely mother always encouraged my passion for cooking and even bought me my own little apron because I loved standing beside her in the kitchen and learning how to cook from her.  \nToday\, I enjoy sharing the flavours\, colours\, and warmth of Syrian food with others through dishes made with love\, creativity and tradition.” \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nSheik Al-Mahshi (Stuffed Courgette in a Yoghurt Sauce) | Meat (Beef) and Vegetarian; Milk\, Tree Nuts (Pine Nuts)\nMaqluba and Laban Bi Khiar (Aubergine Pilaf with a Cucumber Yoghurt Dip) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\nSambousek (Crispy Cheese Rolls) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\, Sulphites\nShorba (Red Lentil Soup) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sulphites\nFattoush | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\nManal’s Salad | Vegetarian; Milk\, Sesame\, Tree Nuts (Walnuts)\nTamer Mahshi (Chocolate and Nut Stuffed Dates) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Tree Nuts (Almonds\, Hazelnuts\, Pistachios)\n\nThis menu contains meat (beef) but is vegetarian-friendly (7/7 dishes are meat-free or have meat-free filling options). Allergens include: celery\, gluten\, milk\, sesame\, sulphites\, tree nuts. \nPlease let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements so our team is aware ahead of the class. Kindly note that we will not be substituting any ingredients to accommodate dietary needs\, so please only book into classes that suit your dietary requirements. \nJoin Manal’s hands-on\, social cookery class in London to learn to make authentic Syrian dishes — and celebrate the flavours\, skills\, and culinary traditions that refugees bring to the UK. \n \n\n\n\n \nTHE CLASS FORMAT \nOur cookery classes are family-style – meaning everyone works together to prepare the dishes as a team. \nWhile you’ll be asked to choose one dish to focus on\, you’ll have the opportunity to move around the kitchen\, help with other dishes\, and learn from each recipe. It’s a fun\, social\, and collaborative way to cook! At the end of the class\, you’ll sit down with the chef\, class facilitator and volunteers to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created together. \n \nREMINDERS \nWe’re excited to have you in the class! SUMMARY:Omani Cookery Class with Hani | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Hani will teach you some of his favourite Omani dishes followed by a sit down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nOmani cuisine blends Asian influences with aromatic spices and herbs from the Middle East that bring warmth to every dish – like Hani’s Makbous\, a popular and traditional rice dish that is known for its deep\, aromatic taste and considered a symbol of Omani hospitality. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE CHEF \nMy name is Hani\, and I come from the Sultanate of Oman — a beautiful country in the Middle East with a rich history\, deep-rooted traditions\, and a vibrant culinary culture. \nMy mum taught me to cook – she is Egyptian and I really love Egyptian food. My dad was from Oman\, and I think this has helped me create my own type of cuisine – a mix of Egyptian and Omani food. \nMy dad also loved to cook\, so I had two very good teachers. I improved my cooking skills through observing and working with chefs in my restaurant business. Now I’m in the UK\, I’m starting a new chapter and bringing with me the flavours of Oman. I hope to open my own restaurant business in London one day. It is my honour to serve as a culinary ambassador for my homeland — to connect people\, cultures\, and communities\, one dish at a time. \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nShorba (Oat and Chicken Soup with Vermicelli) | Meat (Chicken); Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nOmani Samosa | Meat (Beef) and Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nVegetable Saloona (Vegetable Stew with Dried Lime) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nMakbous (Spiced Rice Pilaf) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nTuna Salad | Fish (Tuna); Fish\, Sulphites\nOmani Khabeesa (Rose and Saffron Dessert) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and beef) and fish (tuna). SUMMARY:Algerian Cookery Class with Wassim | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Wassim will teach you some of his favourite Algerian dishes followed by a sit down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nAlgerian cuisine comes from North Africa and reflects a rich mix of Mediterranean\, Berber\, Arab\, and French influences. Meals are hands-on\, social\, and made to be shared\, with dishes like Dolma\, Borek\, Shakshuka\, and Mesfouf showcasing the country’s culinary diversity and warmth. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Wassim: \n“Hello\, my name is Wassim and I am from Algeria – the largest country on the African continent\, located in North Africa between Morocco\, Libya\, and Tunisia. I lived in the capital city\, Algiers – which is located in the north of the country by the Mediterranean sea. I come from a big family and I have many beautiful memories of food and cooking from my childhood. I used to watch my mother and my father in the kitchen\,and I fell in love with the flavours and smells. Algerian food is rich and varied\, with Mediterranean\, Arab and French influences. We use lots of fresh vegetables\, and fresh spices such as cumin\, coriander and paprika. Every meal is accompanied by a salad\, and the presentation of the food is very important. My cooking class aims to reflect this and I have included recipes that are everyday\, as well as some that we eat as part of special celebrations.” \n \n\n\n\n \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nDolma (Vegeatbles Stuffed with Lamb in a Chicken Broth) | Meat (Chicken\, Lamb); Eggs\, Gluten\nBorek (Lamb or Potato Pastries) | Meat (Lamb) and Vegetarian; Gluten\, Milk\nShakshuka (Algerian Egg and Pepper Stew) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten\nShalata (Algerian Salad) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Sulphites\nMesfouf (Algerian Vegetable Couscous) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten\, Milk\nTamina (Semolina and Honey Cake) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten\, Sesame\, Tree Nuts (Almonds\, Pistachios)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and lamb). SUMMARY:Ethiopian Cookery Class with Tarik | Vegetarian | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Tarik will teach delicious\, authentic Ethiopian dishes followed by a sit-down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \n \nEthiopian cuisine is one of the oldest and most distinctive culinary traditions in the world. At its heart is injera\, a soft\, fermented flatbread that serves as both the plate and the utensil\, bringing people together to share a meal from a single platter. Recipes vary across Ethiopia’s regions and communities\, but food is always closely tied to hospitality\, family\, and celebration. Built around pulses\, vegetables\, warming spice blends\, and slow-cooked dishes\, Ethiopian cooking is as much about sharing and connection as it is about flavour.  \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \n“My name is Tarik and I am from Ethiopia – a country in East Africa\, which has a long history and is home to many. We are proud to have 83 different languages. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church combines elements of the Old and New Testament; this old history combined with Ethiopia’s natural beauty of volcanos\, mountains and lakes now attracts many tourists to Ethiopia.  \n \nMy grandmother inspired me to cook and taught me a lot about cooking – she said I was a quick learner! She loved people and every day\, she would make traditional Ethiopian coffee and invite all of our neighbours and friends to our home. She loves to cook for special occasions\, especially at New Year. DESCRIPTION:Chef Sana will teach delicious\, authentic Saudi Arabian and Uyghur dishes followed by a sit-down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nSaudi Arabian and Uyghur cuisine blends rich Middle Eastern spices with Central Asian traditions\, creating vibrant\, flavourful\, and comforting dishes. From hand-stretched noodles and dumplings to sweet sesame and date desserts\, the food is colourful\, social\, and made to be shared. I moved here from Jeddah\, Saudi Arabia in 2013. I have lived the majority of my life there. Culturally I am Uyghur\, an ethnic Muslim minority located in Central Asia (now part of China called Xinjiang). The dishes I teach in my class are a mix of the two cultures I come from. I learned to cook from my Mum. She used to call my sisters and me to assist her with cooking. I was her main helper\, especially when it came to pulling noodles. \nWhen I was in high school and had our summer holiday\, my mum trusted me enough to cook for the family and I insisted she write me the recipes with every little detail. I got paid for it! My mum taught me to cook several cuisines from around the world but my favourites were Saudi & Uyghur. Even though I have explored hundreds of dishes living in London\, Laghman is the most delicious dish (In my personal opinion!)” \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nJawawa (Uyghur Dumplings filled with Lamb or Chard) | Meat (Lamb) and Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sulphites\nCrunchy Chilli & Garlic Oil | Vegan; None\nLaghman (Hand-stretched Noodles with Braised Vegetables) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Eggs\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nFoul Qulabah (Fava Bean Dip) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nLuqaimat Alqadi (Saudi Doughnuts with Sesame and Date Syrup) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\, Soya\n\nThis menu is mostly vegetarian but contains one dish with meat (lamb)\, with vegetarian filling options. Food is central to family life\, celebrations\, and community\, with recipes often passed down through generations and shared with pride. While ingredients and dishes vary across Nigeria’s regions\, every meal is rooted in hospitality\, and the joy of bringing people together around the table.  \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nMy name is Uchenna\, and I come from Nnewi in Anambra State\, in the eastern part of Nigeria. Nigeria is home to three major ethnic groups Igbo\, Yoruba\, and Hausa and more than 200 languages. I am proud to be from the Igbo tribe\, a people known for their rich culture\, resilience\, and love of food. \nGrowing up\, I never imagined that cooking would become such an important part of my life. I often called my mother and younger sister for recipes and guidance. What began as a necessity soon became a hobby and a source of joy. \nMy journey with Migrateful has reignited my confidence and passion. After attending a Migrateful Open Day\, I felt inspired and\, just three days later\, volunteered to cook at St James’s Church on International Women’s Day. It was a turning point that helped me rediscover myself. \nNow\, I am excited to welcome you to my class and share authentic Nigerian flavours\, stories\, and traditions through food.
