When I came to Bristol in 2020 I felt relief because the people were so friendly and supportive. \nI learnt to cook from my grandmother and stepmother when I was 15. They said you must look after yourself when you are at University. I discovered I loved cooking. The first things I cooked were rice and aubergine stew to go with lamb. \nWhen I lived in Manchester with 4 friends\, I did all the cooking. In Bristol I worked in a Kurdish restaurant in Old Market. \nI love sharing my recipes from my country with people from different countries. Kurdish cuisine uses a lot of fresh ingredients\, herbs and spices. It is very tasty but not too spicy. So I am excited to have joined Migrateful and can’t wait to share my story and culture.” \n \nON THE MENU (subject to change)\nBamya (Okra Soup) | Vegan; Mustard \nKibbeh (Rice Stuffed with Lamb) | Meat (Lamb); Mustard \nLahana Maza (Couscous Salad) | Vegan; Gluten (Wheat) \nJajik (Yoghurt Sauce) | Vegetarian; Milk \nBrinj (Spiced Rice) | Vegan; Tree Nuts (Walnuts\, Almonds)\, Gluten (Wheat) \nPatatay Swrawkraw (Fried Mashed Potato) | Vegan; Mustard \nThis menu contains meat (lamb) but is vegetarian-friendly (five out of six dishes are meat-free). I came to England in 2022 with my husband and my six year old twin boys. We left everything behind in Tehran to come here. In Iran\, I studied food science at university and worked for a medical company and then became a nail technician. I didn’t start seriously cooking until I got married. It was then that I fell in love with cooking. I love experimenting with food. My favourite ingredient is saffron – I use it in lots of dishes – rice\, ice cream\, cake\, sweets and even tea! I love the diversity of Iranian food – every city has its own local dishes.  \n \nIn the north\, we grow a lot of rice\, so you’ll find this on every menu. In the south\, seafood and spices feature. Meat and chicken are popular everywhere. By sharing these dishes\, I hope to recreate fond memories I have of Iranian food and culture. Iranian people are very hospitable.
