SUMMARY:Algerian Cookery Class with Amel | LONDON | Pop up
DESCRIPTION:In this session Amel will teach delicious\, authentic Algerian dishes followed by a sit-down\, family-style meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nAlgerian cuisine is a beautiful blend of North African\, Mediterranean\, and French influences — rich in spices\, seasonal vegetables\, slow-cooked stews\, and warm breads. From fragrant soups like Chorba Frik to comforting tagines and delicate pastries\, Algerian food is deeply social\, made to be shared\, and full of heritage. With flavours shaped by centuries of cultural exchange\, every dish tells a story of community\, generosity\, and home. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Amel: \nHi my name is Amel\, I am from Sidi Bel Abbes in Western Algeria. Our city is nicknamed ‘Petit Paris’ because there is a strong French influence. I wasn’t allowed to cook growing up because my parents wanted me to focus on my studies. I was a teacher in Algeria but wasn’t able to continue teaching when I moved to the UK in 2015. After I met my wonderful husband\, we quickly had children and I began to spend more time at home. During this time\, I realised my passion for cooking and baking. I cooked so much for my friends and family that they told me to stop as they feared they were getting fat. In the future\, I want to open my own bakery where I can share Algerian food and culture with people in London. Algeria is extremely multicultural and culturally rich\, which is something I am very proud of. I have always been a daydreamer and I really value the freedom to pursue my dreams here in the UK”. \n \n\n\n\nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nTagine Zitoun (Olive Tagine with Chicken and Meatballs) | Meat (Chicken and Lamb); Egg\, Gluten (Wheat)\nChorba Frik (Vegetable Soup with Freekah and Carraway) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\nBourek (Tuna Pastry Parcels with Cheese) | Fish (Tuna); Eggs\, Fish\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nRekhsas (Algerian Semolina and Nigella Seed Flatbread) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nSamsa b-louz (Fried Almond\, Sesame and Honey Pastries) | Vegetarian; Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\, Sesame\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and lamb) and fish (tuna). SUMMARY:Omani Cookery Class with Hani | LONDON | Cookery School
DESCRIPTION:Chef Hani will teach you some of his favourite Omani dishes followed by a sit down meal.\n\n\nABOUT THE CUISINE \nOmani cuisine blends Asian influences with aromatic spices and herbs from the Middle East that bring warmth to every dish – like Hani’s Makbous\, a popular and traditional rice dish that is known for its deep\, aromatic taste and considered a symbol of Omani hospitality. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE CHEF \nMy name is Hani\, and I come from the Sultanate of Oman — a beautiful country in the Middle East with a rich history\, deep-rooted traditions\, and a vibrant culinary culture. \nMy mum taught me to cook – she is Egyptian and I really love Egyptian food. My dad was from Oman\, and I think this has helped me create my own type of cuisine – a mix of Egyptian and Omani food. \nMy dad also loved to cook\, so I had two very good teachers. I improved my cooking skills through observing and working with chefs in my restaurant business. Now I’m in the UK\, I’m starting a new chapter and bringing with me the flavours of Oman. I hope to open my own restaurant business in London one day. It is my honour to serve as a culinary ambassador for my homeland — to connect people\, cultures\, and communities\, one dish at a time. \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nShorba (Oat and Chicken Soup with Vermicelli) | Meat (Chicken); Celery\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Milk\nOmani Samosa | Meat (Beef) and Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Sulphites\nVegetable Saloona (Vegetable Stew with Dried Lime) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nMakbous (Spiced Rice Pilaf) | Vegetarian; Celery\, Milk\nTuna Salad | Fish (Tuna); Fish\, Sulphites\nOmani Khabeesa (Rose and Saffron Dessert) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten (Wheat)\, Tree Nuts (Almonds)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and beef) and fish (tuna). Meals are hands-on\, social\, and made to be shared\, with dishes like Dolma\, Borek\, Shakshuka\, and Mesfouf showcasing the country’s culinary diversity and warmth. \n \nABOUT THE CHEF \nA message from our Chef Wassim: \n“Hello\, my name is Wassim and I am from Algeria – the largest country on the African continent\, located in North Africa between Morocco\, Libya\, and Tunisia. I lived in the capital city\, Algiers – which is located in the north of the country by the Mediterranean sea. I come from a big family and I have many beautiful memories of food and cooking from my childhood. I used to watch my mother and my father in the kitchen\,and I fell in love with the flavours and smells. Algerian food is rich and varied\, with Mediterranean\, Arab and French influences. We use lots of fresh vegetables\, and fresh spices such as cumin\, coriander and paprika. Every meal is accompanied by a salad\, and the presentation of the food is very important. My cooking class aims to reflect this and I have included recipes that are everyday\, as well as some that we eat as part of special celebrations.” \n \n\n\n\n \nON THE MENU (subject to change): \n\nDolma (Vegeatbles Stuffed with Lamb in a Chicken Broth) | Meat (Chicken\, Lamb); Eggs\, Gluten\nBorek (Lamb or Potato Pastries) | Meat (Lamb) and Vegetarian; Gluten\, Milk\nShakshuka (Algerian Egg and Pepper Stew) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten\nShalata (Algerian Salad) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Sulphites\nMesfouf (Algerian Vegetable Couscous) | Vegetarian; Eggs\, Gluten\, Milk\nTamina (Semolina and Honey Cake) | Vegetarian; Milk\, Gluten\, Sesame\, Tree Nuts (Almonds\, Pistachios)\n\nThis menu contains meat (chicken and lamb).
