If you are looking for a more substantial way to help Migrateful’s cause, you can apply to one of our volunteer placements, which require a commitment of 3 or 4 days a week, for a minimum of 3 months.

👷‍♀️ Operations Support Volunteer

About the voluntary role

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is keen to gain operations experience in the social enterprise and charity sector, and also to get to know our amazing team and to make a real difference to the lives of the refugees and migrants we support.

The role will require a mixture of tasks focusing on supporting the smooth running of our operations. The volunteer will provide administrative support to our Head of Operations and also to the rest of the Operations team. There will be a range of administrative duties to support the day to day running of the charity, as well as the opportunity to work on specific projects, supporting the ongoing development of the organisation’s infrastructure.

The kind of person we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone who is efficient, flexible and resourceful, with a calm and friendly manner. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with people at every level. You will need to be a problem solver and enjoy developing and improving systems and processes. You will be dealing with delicate cases, so discretion and sound judgement are critical.  

Time commitment

This voluntary placement could start either this side of Christmas, on the 29th of November, or after Christmas, on the 5th of January. The placement would last for 3 months, for a suggested time of 3 days a week. Travel to our office and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.

About the voluntary role

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is keen to gain PR & Customer Service experience in the social enterprise and charity sector, and also to get to know our amazing team and to make a real difference to the lives of the refugees and migrants we support.

We are doing great, but that means we are always in need of more hands on deck, particularly when it comes to answering enquiries, emails and messages.

The main focus of this Volunteer Placement would be monitoring one of our email inboxes + social media DMs; answering enquiries where possible, and where not possible, forward to the relevant team members; forward press releases to relevant journalists.

There will be a range of marketing duties to support the day to day running of the marketing team, as well as the opportunity to work on specific projects, supporting the ongoing development of the organisation’s digital infrastructure.

The kind of person we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone who is efficient, flexible and resourceful, with a calm and friendly manner. You will have excellent writing skills, a collaborative approach and some level of self-management, which you will need to organise your work and prioritise tasks. You will need to be a problem solver and enjoy developing and improving systems and processes. You will be dealing with delicate cases, so discretion and sound judgement are critical.

👩‍🍳 Chef Training Support Volunteer

About the voluntary role

You will be helping our chefs on their 10 week journey from passionate home cook to confident cookery class teacher. Your help is invaluable in supporting our chefs to build the skills and materials they need to teach their cookery classes. We hope you enjoy learning from each other and tasting all the incredible dishes that will be shared along the way.

We are looking for someone to support our chef training process, some of the tasks would include:

  • Coordinating our chef training volunteers
  • Coordinating menu development process
  • Setting up the chef training space and cleaning up
  • Shopping for ingredients

The kind of person we’re looking for 

We are looking for someone with good communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for food and a passion for supporting vulnerable people.

Teaching experience desirable.

Our team is very diverse and we would particularly welcome candidates from a refugee background who can better support our mission. Commitment to equality and valuing diversity and understanding of how this applies to delivery of our area of work.
