Hi, my name is Akbar. I moved to the UK from the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, with my wife and four children. I am Tajik and I love showcasing our delicious food and culture. Samarkand is a significant centre of Persian culture and a hub for trade along the Silk Road.

I have had a passion for cooking from a young age, as I learnt from my parents and grandparents. Having had many years of experience catering for family, and friends and hosting culinary events I am now confident and enjoy cooking Tajik cuisine.

I used to be a mathematics teacher as well as a chef, so I like both numbers and flavours. I have a Masters degree in mathematics from Samarkand State University, so I have an eye for detail, precision, flavour harmony and creativity. I also enjoy experimenting with different ingredients and techniques to create exquisite flavours, delighting your palates and affording memorable culinary experiences.
